Rick Azevedo
Rick Azevedo is a city councilor in Rio de Janeiro, elected in 2024 with the highest vote count in his party despite running the lowest-budget campaign. He gained national attention in 2023 after a video about his experience as a pharmacy clerk went viral, sparking debate around the 6×1 work schedule.
He is the founder of VAT (Life Beyond Work), a movement that mobilized workers across Brazil to advocate for ending this labor model—an effort that led to a constitutional amendment proposal currently under discussion in Congress. In office, he focuses on workers’ rights and has chaired the Labor and Employment Committee since 2026. Among his legislative actions is a ban on hiring individuals convicted of slave labor for public positions.
