Lucia Alberta Andrade Baré
Lucia Alberta Andrade Baré holds a degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s degree in Education from the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). She has an extensive career dedicated to advancing Indigenous peoples’ rights, with experience in education, sustainable development, and territorial management.
Throughout her career, she coordinated the Indigenous Higher Education Program at the Socioenvironmental Institute (ISA), led Brazil’s national Indigenous school education policy at the Ministry of Education (MEC), and served as advisor to the presidency of the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples (Funai). She also worked as a legislative advisor to federal congresswoman Joenia Wapichana in the Chamber of Deputies. At Funai, she served as Director of Sustainable Development Promotion and later as Director of Environmental and Territorial Management. She currently serves as President of the Fundação Nacional dos Povos Indígenas.
