As a city councillor in Natal, Thabatta Pimenta is the first trans person elected in Rio Grande do Norte and has built a social media community of more than 1 million followers. An atypical mother to her brother, Ryan, she has established herself as a national reference in the defence of LGBTQIA+ rights and the rights of people with disabilities (PWDs). Her parliamentary work further encompasses workers’ protection, female empowerment, and support for the autistic community, occupying spaces of power to give a voice to and transform the lives of those whom society often renders invisible.
