9th Edition (2024)

In 2024, the Brazil Forum UK occurred amid the reclaiming of a protagonist role for Brazil on the international stage. Taking the lead during the G20 conference and preparing itself to be the host for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP) 2025, assumed a leading position with the potential to become a future reference for solutions to global challenges. Hence, the theme for this edition was “The Future is Brazilian.”

This edition aimed to value Brazilian knowledge and showcase our relevance in the construction of a more sustainable, inclusive, innovative and equitable future.

8th Edition (2023)

In 2023, the year that presented itself as the moment for post-pandemic rebuilding in political, economic and social spheres, Brazil Forum UK promoted debates to resume the plans of growth and development.

With the theme ‘Innovating Paths, Transforming Futures’, the 2023 edition calls for reflection, with a sensitive eye to the Brazilian diversity, aiming to imagine a just and inclusive future for our country.

7th Edition (2022)

During the waning of the Covid-19 pandemic, amid economic and political crises, the 2022 edition was held with the purpose of nurturing hope, one of the core aspects of human nature.

A new day, new stories, new paths, and a chance to rebuild. With the theme ‘Tomorrow Will Be Another Day,’ Brazil Forum UK explored science, information, inclusion, communication, and other fundamental topics, aiming to, alongside the Brazilian people, rekindle the spirit of dreaming.

6th Edition (2021)

Still in the pandemic, with the theme ‘The Future Starts in the Present’, the goal of the 6th edition was to raise multidisciplinary debates on urgent matters faced by Brazil that extend beyond the politics immersed in polarisation, including discussions on vaccines and public health, the environment and the pandemic. Brazil Forum UK 2021 had over thirty key speakers, including Luís Roberto Barroso, Anielle Franco, Evandro Fióti, Silvio Almeida, Marina Silva, Erika Hilton, Fernando Haddad, Fernandes and Erica Malunguinho.

5th Edition (2020)

2020 was an unprecedented year that required adaptability from each and every one of us. Brazil Forum UK was no different. The 5th edition, initially planned to take place at LSE and Oxford University as usual, had to be remodelled to be held completely online. This called for a deliberate effort from the committee, responsible for rethinking and developing seminars and talks in alternative forms, so as not to harm the interactivity and the dynamic of debates.

4th Edition (2019)

Proposals for inclusive and sustainable development with the collaboration of agents from diverse sectors. The Indigenous leader Sônia Guajajara, the Supreme Federal Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, the journalist Mônica Bergamo, the senator Cid Gomes, the governor Eduardo Leite, amongst others, participated in the event.

3rd Edition (2018)

Advances, setbacks and challenges to the Federal Constitution of 1988, considering the opportunities for the future. Attended by the then-president Dilma Rousseff, the ex-senator Marina Silva, the minister of the Supreme Federal Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, the doctor Dráuzio Varella and the senator Ricardo Ferraço, amongst others.

2nd Edition (2017)

A creative analysis of the multifaceted conditions our country was founded upon. Attended by the then Judge Sergio Moro, the entrepreneur Guilherme Leal, the ex-ministers Fernando Haddad, Ciro Gomes and José Eduardo Cardozo and the Supreme Federal Court Justice Luís Roberto Barroso, amongst others.

1st Edition (2016)

Overcoming dichotomies and proposing solutions to the Brazilian institutional crisis. Amongst others present at the event, participated the ex-Attorney General of the Union Luís Inácio Adams, the economist Persio Arida, the prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol, Editor-in-Chief of Folha Otávio Frias Filho, former Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, and philosopher Luiz Felipe Pondé.
