Science in crisis

22/6 - 17h BR / 9p.m. UK

Overcoming a global crisis has never depended so much on scientific knowledge. In Brazil, this happens in an even more alarming scenario: the country faces an unprecedented crisis in the valorization of Science. Exhaustion of resources, discredit of academic discourse and retaliation under the pretext of “fighting ideologies” have been stifling knowledge production. Even in this adverse scenario, the Brazilian scientific community has been resisting, producing and reflecting on its own performance. The panel proposes to expand the debate on the role of Science in the country’s development, the approach of academia and society and the future of Brazilian scientific production, converging areas of knowledge and adapting to new realities.

In recognition of the times we are living in, at the end of each panel, we at Brazil Forum UK always present a financing campaign related to the topic discussed. We believe that each person can do their part to build our future together.

Therefore, today, we invite you to contribute to the project Alavanca na Escola, from Associação Somos Professores, from Pernambuco. Alavanca na Escola is a project of the Somos Professores Association that takes the science of improvement into public schools. The objective is to help school leaders to make evidence-based decisions and to incorporate a culture of continuous improvement in their schools.
